Since most of the hog hunting is done in thick brush or swamp forest, an open-sight shotgun with a slug or open-sight rifle is the preferred pig hunting weapon, from April through November. No buck shot is allowed to be used on the ranch. Scoped rifles or shotguns are recommended for the rest of the year for boar hunting.

The rifle size requires a minimum of .223 (min. 60 grain hollow point bullet) .243 or .270, .30, .308, .45, .70 or bigger. Bigger rifles will work though they are not necessary.

For all guns we have a 3 round rule; 1 in the chamber and no more than 2 in the magazine regardless of it's size. Pistols, bows, and crossbows are also effective.
Our calendar (located on the hog hunting page) provides all the available dates.
